Dr. James R. Stewart, Jr.
Dr. James R. Stewart, Jr., graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in microbiology, and then earned his D.D.S. degree from its School of Dentistry in 1987. The following year he completed a general practice residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit.
Dr. Stewart regularly takes continuing education classes so he can provide the best care for his patients and offer them the latest advances in dental treatment. He has completed the curriculum at the prestigious Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies, and continues to take additional courses there. In addition, Dr. Stewart completed the Advanced Prosthetic Training Program at the Postdoctoral Dental Studies Institute. He also participates in several local study clubs.
Dr. Stewart has earned a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor achieved by fewer than 10 percent of dentists in the country. He is active in his local dental society and serves as chairman of the Peer Review Committee.
A strong believer in giving back to the community, Dr. Stewart works with Donated Dental Services, a national program for disabled adults who need but cannot afford dental services. He also participates every year with his staff with Give Kids A Smile, providing dental care for children from low-income families. At halloween Dr. Stewart and his office hold a Halloween Candy Buy Back which helps support Operation Gratitude and also keeps his patient's smiles healthy.
Dr. Stewart and his wife, Janet, have two school-age sons, Paul and Mark. He and his family enjoy golf, snow skiing, traveling and attending University of Michigan football games.
