Answers to Our Most Frequently Asked Questions
We welcome your questions about your dental care, and we will take the time to ensure that you get complete and understandable answers. The questions below are the ones that we get asked most frequently - but you're always welcome to call our dental office in Livonia if you'd like more information or if you have other concerns.
How does the doctor keep up to date on all of the current techniques and materials?
Dr. Stewart is a strong advocate of continuing education and takes over 100 hours of continuing education classes each year. He has completed the curriculum at the prestigious Dawson Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. In addition, he has earned a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and is active in several professional associations.
How do I know when it's time to come in for an appointment?
We make every effort to let you know when it's time to come in to the office. We send reminder cards and will call you a few days before your appointment. To ensure that you get an appointment time that's convenient for you, we pre-schedule your appointments up to six months in advance.
Do you accept referrals?
We welcome them, because we find that good patients send us more good patients!
We even have a special program that rewards you for encouraging your family and friends to come to us.
Here's how it works. Your appointment card has a section called "Gift for a Friend." Give that card to someone who you think would appreciate receiving comprehensive, caring dental care at our office. When we get the card from him or her at the first appointment, we'll take $25 off the charge for that visit!
We'll also give you a $25 credit towards your next dental visit as a thank you for your confidence in us. Patients who make referrals are also entered into a quarterly drawing for a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice.
Do you accept my insurance plan?
We work with most insurance carriers and will complete all the necessary paperwork to help your claim get processed. We'll always carefully track for you what you're spending on your care, and will work to maximize your coverage as much as possible.
What different payment options do you provide?
We do everything possible to ensure that you can afford the dental care that you want and need. You can pay with cash, check, or credit card. We have also partnered with CareCredit, which can provide you with no-interest financing for up to 12 months.
How can I safely whiten my teeth?
There are a number of safe and effective ways to whiten your teeth, both at home and in the office. We'll be glad to discuss your options and help you select the one that's best for you. Call for an appointment.
What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?
We take great care to make sure that you stay safe during dental treatment by following all the routine health and safety procedures such as wearing gloves and masks, sterilizing equipment, etc. To further ensure your safety, we run distilled water through all the supply lines in our office. In addition, our entire team takes part in annual infection control training.
Crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays and partials...where can I learn more about these procedures?
Just ask us! We're always happy to sit down with you and give you as much information as you want about various dental treatments. We have audiovisual patient education systems to help make our explanations as clear as possible. We hope you'll use this web site as an information resource as well.
I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want to wear braces. What would you recommend?
There are several options available today, including porcelain veneers and bonding. Since we want to make a personalized recommendation that's right for you, we invite you to call for a consultation so that you can learn about the different choices.
What are Smile Analysis and Smile Design?
They are the processes we use to produce the smile that's just right for you. We start with a detailed study of your mouth, teeth, and gums. We'll take X-rays and digital photos to help us analyze your current smile.
Then, using the Smile Design process, we will create a new smile that fits with your face and your expectations. We'll provide models of your new smile so that you can see the changes we're suggesting.
